Eddie Mina
Advanced Choreo Workshop | Sundays 1:00pm - 2:30pm
About Eddie
Eddie Mina has trained with Training Ground for two years and spent five years with Company. He has taught throughout the Bay for the past four to five years and has performed at DAMSF, VIBE, Prelude, Bridge, Complex, and Good Times. Eddie is the founder and director of the mentorship program EP and co-directed @channel for Complex in 2023.
What can students expect?
This workshop will focus on performing with intention while building and blocking a full set for the Open Floor stage. Students can expect to work on individuality, musical confidence, and being fully present in their performance choices. Eddie wants dancers to feel encouraged to be themselves, trust their instincts, and still work hard toward a polished final piece.
Tina
KPOP Cover Performance Workshop | Sundays 2:30pm - 4:00pm
About Tina
Tina has danced with SNACKPACK Dance Collective since 2023 and has directed its K-pop subunit, bibimpack, since 2024. She has taught Community Classes and workshops through On One Studios and SNACKPACK's monthly popups, and she is also a current member of Off the Grid, a K-pop exhibition team based in San Jose.
What can students expect?
Students can expect a strong focus on performance quality and learning how to move with the confidence and swagger of a seasoned K-pop idol. Tina will also emphasize body awareness so dancers can better understand and apply choreography on their own. The goal is for students to leave the series feeling sharper, more self-assured, and more captivating on stage.
Paulina Huynh Nhu
Beginner Heels Performance Workshop | Mondays 9:20pm - 10:50pm
About Paulina
Paulina Huynh Nhu is a queer Vietnamese creative, dancer, choreographer, and storyteller. She has been teaching heels and sensual movement since 2020 and currently teaches regular slots at On One Studios and Revel Room Studios in San Jose. Paulina has been a member of several Bay Area dance teams and is currently a member of Side Piece, a project team based out of Oakland. From April 2023 through April 2025, she created and directed Collective POV, a movement group centered on exploring sensuality through movement and building community through collaborative growth.
What can students expect?
Students will focus on learning, blocking, and cleaning a beginner-level heels dance set. Throughout the 10 weeks, they will strengthen their heels fundamentals and apply them to a sensual, fluid, and sassy set for Open Floor. Paulina wants students to become more comfortable and confident in heels movement while also feeling proud of delivering an excellent performance on stage.

About Paulina

Students will learn how to apply their existing choreo and heels foundation to a sensual, dynamic, and entertaining intermediate or advanced-level performance for Open Floor. Throughout the process, they will work on refining dynamics, textures, facials, understanding of the set, and connection with the rest of the cast so they feel prepared and confident bringing the performance to life on stage. Students should expect a rewarding challenge.
Jepoy Papas
Int/Adv Choreo Performance Workshop | Tuesdays 6:00pm - 7:30pm
About Jepoy
Jepoy Papas has choreographed for a range of dance scenes in the Bay Area and for numerous artists in the Philippines. He is also part of the highly respected team The Company and is known as one of the Bay Area's dance mentors.
What can students expect?
Students can expect to focus on committing fully to movement and building a stronger connection to the music. Jepoy wants dancers to leave the workshop with a deeper sense of performance presence, clearer character choices, and a stronger commitment to every phrase they execute.
Anthony Daste
Beg Choreo Performance Workshop | Wednesdays 8:00pm - 9:30pm
About Anthony
Anthony Daste is a Northern California native who started as a freestyle dancer. He has performed with teams including VIP San Jose and Academy of Villains, helped co-found Commonality with close friends, and currently serves as a co-director. Over the years, he has showcased and competed at events such as VIBE, IDL, Ultimate Brawl, and Prelude NorCal.
What can students expect?
Students can expect to grow in both confidence and execution while learning to better understand their movement. Anthony wants to support individual growth while helping dancers sharpen their performance quality in a welcoming environment. Most of all, he wants students to enjoy the process and have fun while building the piece together.
Marky Dimaano
Adv Choreo Performance Workshop | Wednesdays 8:40pm - 10:10pm
About Marky
Marky Dimaano is a dancer from Sacramento who has been based in San Francisco since 2022. He joined Black Flag in 2019 and has performed with the team at Sacramento Kings games, dance exhibitions and competitions, and in music videos. Since moving to the Bay, he has taught regularly at studios throughout the region and performed at events such as Prelude NorCal and World of Dance.
What can students expect?
Students will work on being both groovy and technical, with a strong emphasis on body control. Marky will focus on making small or subtle movement choices feel effective, learning how to hit high-energy movement in a controlled way, and blending both dynamics into a set that feels entertaining and fun. He wants students to work hard, enjoy the process, and feel safe being themselves while building real bonds and memories together.

Your path to the Open Floor 2026 stage.
Follow the season from enrollment through performance night. Workshops open at the end of May, begin in early June, and build all summer toward the Open Floor stage.

Enrollment opens and dancers can review the teacher lineup, choose their track, and claim a spot while space is available.
First Week of June
Workshops Begin
Each cast starts weekly rehearsals focused on choreography, staging, performance quality, and group connection.
Sept. 4th
Tech Rehearsal + Final Notes
Earlier in the day, performers walk through spacing, transitions, and stage details so each piece feels ready for the audience.
Sept. 5th
Open Floor Performance
Everything leads to the final performance at the annual Open Floor showcase at Mexican Heritage Plaza.

What is a Performance Workshop?
A Performance Workshop is a special series of workshops where participants are trained and directed by a mentor to put on a dance performance on stage. It will consist of learning choreography, blocking, staging, and refining the performance alongside other peers. This is a chance to experience what it's like to put together a dance performance and perform in front of others on stage.
When and where is the performance?
For this series, the performance will be during our annual Open Floor showcase on September 5, 2026 at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. The performance is in the evening, but a tech rehearsal will be earlier in the day. Stay tuned for more information as the day gets closer.
Can I try it before I commit?
Yes, the first 2 weeks of the performance workshops are drop-in friendly for $35.00 a session. Space is limited, and drop-in enrollment will be based on a first-come, first-served basis.
What if I have to miss a session?
Rehearsals are on the same time and day every week unless specified by the studio or the instructor ahead of time. We encourage students to check for schedule conflicts prior to enrolling. Unfortunately, missed sessions cannot be refunded.
What if I withdraw in the middle of the series?
There will be a $50 withdrawal fee. All past charges will be non-refundable.
What level of dance is recommended to participate in the performance workshop?
Each performance workshop clearly specifies the level of choreography taught in its description. We encourage you to take note and check with our front desk for any questions.
