“I started my performance / dance journey at the age of 6. Starting with military drill team and then making my way to my middle schools hip hop team. When I got to high school was when things really started to take off! I began taking it more serious and decided that this was something I wanted to make a career out of. I’m really grateful to be trained and surrounded by some of the greats in the dance world. As well as pushed to choreograph my own things, which of course has brought me to where I am now. I get to not only travel the world but I get to teach and do what I love as well. Always a plus!”
OOS: How would you describe your dance style?
Honestly, I still don’t know what my dance style is. Haha! And it took me a long time to be okay with that. But I kind of just go with the flow and how I feel when I listen to certain music. I try not to feel pressured in it just being hip hop or whatever the style may be. I try to mix different styles here and there to create what best fits me in the moment!
OOS: What are your dance goals as a mentor?
My goals as a mentor are to make more connections with my students, to really break out of my shell and be a little more experimental in class, to make my students feel the most comfortable and confident they’ve ever felt. And of course leave inspired! I want them to experience or feel a sense of freedom when they’re in class.
OOS: What will your students learn or experience in your class?
Just fully immerse yourself into the choreography and live ya best life!!! Whether dance is just a hobby on the side or you’re using the class as training, just have fun and enjoy your journey!!!
