Justin has been training and competing for over 6 years with Commonality and is currently a member of Training Ground. He got his start by taking classes and began training on a competitive youth team soon after. He also held leadership positions at his collegiate dance team serving as VP of GRAND Dance Fam as well as choreographing and co-directing multiple showcases. He is excited to continue his dance journey growing in his own craft while guiding his students in finding their own dance colors.!

Howdy party people! I’m Justin 🙂

OOS: How would you describe your dance style?

Justin started as a primarily isolation-based dancer but has grown into more of a flowy abstract style incorporating techniques such as threading and tracing.

OOS: What are your dance goals as a mentor?

Firstly, I hope the students in my class constantly and consistently have a good experience but I also hope to foster a safe space where students can freely discover their own colors within dance.

OOS: What will your students learn or experience in your class?

“At a fundamental level, I hope develop students’ foundations like isolations and grooves and once that is established we can build onto that movement and how it flows and transitions into the next set of material.

At a more nuanced level, I hope to create a space where students can freely develop their voice and color as an artist. At this point, it becomes less about matching the material to the choreographer but rather how can they take the material and make it fit to them and apply their own styles within it.”
