I started dance towards the end of my college career through kpop, where I would learn videos of choreos that I enjoyed off YouTube (Replay – Shinee was the very first!). Then, I joined my school’s kpop and hip hop dance teams. After graduating, I moved to the Bay Area for my graduate studies, where I have done many dance projects and teams such as Syndicate and Training Ground. While I enjoyed being in a dance team and training, I also really enjoyed making choreography and teaching. I have been teaching for about 7 years now, mainly at Montage and On One studios, with workshops at other studios here and there.

Hey everyone! My name is LQ.

OOS: How would you describe your dance style?

I would describe my dance style as: Smooth, continuous, clean.

OOS: What are your dance goals as a mentor?

My goal is to not only refine my craft and style but also allow my students to experience and get better at training my inclinations in choreography, which involve being smooth, clean, and controlled.  If I can pass on the same joy and fulfillment I feel by dancing in my style to my students, then I would have succeeded in achieving a big portion of my goals as a mentor.

OOS: What will your students learn or experience in your class?

I mainly do throwback RnB songs, so they [my students] will experience that vibe in my class. Also, I think such RnB songs and smooth, clean choreo go hand in hand, so they’ll experience that too!
